GENERAL SCIENCE
The General Science portion of the ASVAB covers portions of many disciplines of science. Astronomy, physics, chemistry, anatomy, and biology are just a few of the specialties included. Use our General Science ASVAB practice test section to help bolster your scientific knowledge.

ARITHMETIC REASONING
Arithmetic reasoning is a fancy way to say “math word problems.” This section of the ASVAB will provide a word problem for which you must derive an equation and then correctly solve. Generally, only basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division are required to arrive at the solution.

WORD KNOWLEDGE
The Word Knowledge section of the ASVAB tests your vocabulary. Often you will be required to select a synonym or antonym to a given word. On the most difficult questions, a word with multiple meanings will be presented and you must decipher the correct meaning before arriving at the correct answer.

PARAGRAPH COMPREHENSION
In the Paragraph Comprehension section you will be required to read a short passage of text and answer a question about what you have read. Most often you will be asked to infer an answer that is alluded to in the passage. Click the “Practice!” button below to see sample questions in this category.

MATHEMATICS KNOWLEDGE
The Mathematics Knowledge section is a second way to asses your proficiency at equations. Whereas Arithmetic Reasoning focuses on you generating the equation from a word problem, Mathematics Knowledge gives you the equation to solve or asks you to compare numbers or equations to derive the correct answer.

ELECTRONICS INFORMATION
The Electronics Information section assesses your knowledge of electronic circuits, the individual components that comprise circuits, and the laws of electricity that govern circuits. Some questions may ask you to perform simple calculations to find voltage, power, or other electrical properties. Computer hardware knowledge is also included in this section.

AUTO & SHOP INFORMATION
Automotive and Shop Information tests your knowledge of engines, drive-trains, and related automotive control components. Be ready to answer questions not just about the hardware, but also about concepts such as displacement, stages of an internal combustion engine, gear ratios, and more.

MECHANICAL COMPREHENSION
To be successful at the Mechanical Comprehension section of the ASVAB you will need to understand mechanical language, be able to convert one type of unit to another, have a mental catalog of basic physics equations and know how to solve them, and that’s just the beginning Mechanical Comprehension is a very challenging section of the ASVAB.

ASSEMBLING OBJECTS
How good are you at visualizing objects in three-dimensional space? That is the challenge in the Assembling Objects section of the ASVAB. You will be presented with an image and have to select the correct components which make up that image. Alternately, you will have to mentally assemble the components and select the correct original image.
